Lovely town we stayed above overnight. This is the view from the outside deck of the hotel.
525 feet long and 63 meters 207 meters high, I actually did walk across this bridge. It was pretty stable for a suspension bridge but I will still proud of myself. I wanted to see the cave dwellings on the other side and plus it was around 1,000 steps down so I had to make the climb back up worth my while.
This was one of the more modern of the cave houses in this gorge which was fully inhabited in the 17th and 18th centuries and partially inhabited up until 1958.
This cableway at over 3 miles long is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in only one section and holds the record for Longest non-stop double track cable car. Considering how impressive and beautiful it is, we will forgive them for stretching so far for this record. I actully took this picture on the ride over the gorge to the Tatev Monestary. It looks like a travel brochure to me.
Road to Tatev Monestary
This 9th century Armenian Apostolic Christian monestary is located on a large basalt plateau on the edge of the deep gorge of the Vorotan RIver. The Monestary played an important role in the defense and history of the region which was a center of economic, political, spiritual and cultural activity.

Just a pretty view of mountains, still with lots of snow in spite of the 70 degree plus weather, taken from on the drive back to Yerevan.
Along the roadside when travelling around Southern Armenia. This goat seems to be the ring leader of this flock.
Vorotnavank Monastery overlooks the Vorotan gorge and was in use from the 10th to 12th centuries.

We ran up the hill for a view back on this 10th century monastery. We especially loved how these monastic complexes blend so beautifully in with the surrounding scenery

Kasakh Waterfall

Many things to do around Goris before heading back to Yerevan. This is just beautiful country with a whole lot of history. In Goris, we stayed at a hotel up on the hill with an amazing view and had the treat of watching a local wedding reception going on right below us.
