Adelaide, Australia
April 24-28, 2016
We booked four nights in Adelaide, mainly because we would be moving pretty quickly for the couple weeks leading up to it and it is nice to have a break (i.e. More than two nights in one place). We were once again very pleased with our city view as our apartment was on the 15th floor and this was high enough for really nice views.
The day after we arrived was Anzac day, which is the Australian equivalent of Memorial Day. We were able to see a bit of the parade and thought it was quite well done. We considered hitting up another Aussie Football match that afternoon, but as the weather was hot, we decided to take the trolley to the beach instead. We are finding that we like the vibe in these Australian beach town and the beach at Glenelg was no exception. It was a huge white sand beach with a bustling little town leading to the shores. We lazed about and read for awhile and I took a bit of a dip, although the water was pretty chilly (It is Autumn here even thought the day was hot).
The next couple of days we spent doing catch up and exploring various things the town has to offer. We greatly enjoyed the botanical gardens and the lovely, lovely downtown zoo (pandas, red pandas, lots of different kinds of monkeys, oh my!). The central street was a pedestrian shopping arcade and there were lots of folks going about their business there. Over-all, we had a really easy time enjoying three days in Adelaide and grew to like it more each day. On our last night, we had a lovely dinner with some wonderful wine and topped it off listening to a very talented jazz act.
On the plane today, catching up with blog writing en route to Perth, on the west coast. Lots of fun things still to come!
