Healesville, Australia – The Yarra Valley
April 8-10, 2016
The Yarra is a wine-producing region in Australia. The cooler climate means delicious whites and light red wines and we sampled the offerings at sevaral different vineyards. The landscape here was beautiful with lovely vine-covered hills. Healdsville itself is an historic town which was small and very friendly. We rented a lovely apartment managed by the local hotel that had a beautiful view and a fireplace to keep up warm when it chilled off at night.
Poor Aunt Maureen was nursing a bad chest cough and mostly took it easy in Healsville, but Steve and I tried to have a couple of extra glasses of wine on her behalf! Aunt Maureen and I did get the chance to take a walk through town and talk to a bunch of folks in search of the local Rotary chapter. We met some lovely shop-owners and a woman who was very involved in some excellent Rotary projects around the world. It was very interesting to visit with her and learn about the projects she was involved with. People were super friendly here, as seems to be the rule in Australia!
We really only had one day in Healdsville, but we thoroughly enjoyed it!
