Luxembourg and Belgium – August 4, 2013
We arrived in the beautiful Berkastle on a Saturday and since the next day was Sunday (no work for Steve) and Luxembourg was so close…we decided to do a day trip to Luxembourg City. Getting caught up in our adventures, we also went about 20 minutes further to the first town we came to in Belgium. What a day!
It was about a one-hour drive to Luxembourg City from our apartment and we enjoyed walking around this beautiful city set on an amazing prominatory with action both in the hights and valleys in between. This city felt very old, grand, and European but relatively small, so very easy to get around in a day. Like all European cities, the population took to the streets and umbrella-covered cafes on the week-end and we joined them for a delicious lunch before running quickly across the border into Begium (we have been to Belgium, but we were so close, we decided to take another peek) and taking in a small-town Sunday street bazarre before heading back “home” to Bernkastle. We drove back most of the way in Germany along the beautiful Mosel and were able to appreciate miles and miles of vine-covered slopes before stopping off at a wine tasting room to try some local flavor and get a couple of bottles to take home and enjoy on our beautiful balcony.
