  1. Hi babe,

Here is the info regarding where my current relatives are located. I have never met them but believe this is the town where my grandparents and mom came from. I think they are in Velykyi Chodackiv according to my Uncle’s letter to my Mom. Hope you can meet my family if possible. My Mom’s maiden name is Bilyk. To call my Uncle in Australia 011-139-363-1624. His full name is Fr. Zenon Chorkawyj.

This site is locating Zaboyki/Zabojki as being slightly South-West of city of Ternopil and just a bit South of Zabojki is a Velykyj Chodackiv.
Another good and much detailed map is :

  2. Oh my gosh … SO exciting to hear about your adventures! Matt and I are in Sri Lanka & the Maldives for the first 3 weeks of Jan 2014 … Will you be anywhere near? Xo miss your faces!

    1. Uh….YES!!! TOTALLY! OMG, how awesome! OK, you guys need to let us know which part of your trip you might be willing to invite us to, otherwise we might hone in on the whole thing!! This is actually RIGHT in the area in which we plan to be!

  3. Hello, dear friends!

It’s great to see your travel photos and know that you are having a blast! Kathleen, thank you immensely for your thoughtful, caring postcards since my sweet mom passed away. I am okay. I was fortunate in having my mother with me for so many years and I am grateful.

On another note, I am enjoying my dual citizenship in San Antonio and Austin. In fact, I like it a lot! I will renew my passport soon and surprise you by popping out from behind a giant hedge! 😉

    XO Love, Ellen

  4. It’s now been a couple of months since we met up in Lisbon – even though you’ve moved on to Ireland – I’m sure Portugal is still vivid for you. Did you ever get to try the snails ? Check out one of our little Portugal videos at the link below – you’ll recognize some scenes.
    Cheers

    1. First of all, GOSH DARN IT!!! Second of all, GOSH DARN IT AGAIN, but in a good way. No, we never had the snails, now we have to go back, ok, that makes it two GDI’s in a good way….WOW, what a lovely video you put together!! I knew that mine was an amature blog, but now everyone else knows, too…I guess it is always good to have something to aspire to….Thank you so much for sharing with us and all of our friends and family who are sharing our adventure….what a wonderful synopsis of the beautiful things that make Portugal so special! Please DO keep us informed about your upcoming pilgrimages! I encourage everyone to take a look at this lovely video from our hard-core pilgrim fellow-travellers!

  5. You do realize you two should be writing guides that pay you money, or at least making these blogs public, right? I’ve been meaning to check this out for WEEKS. I’m finally here, and you two have done such a fantastic job! It’s going to take me at least a week to catch up on everything.

    1. Thanks for the positive input! My super-unprofessional blog may be better than I know. I may post the link on facebook at some point, which is pretty much the same thing as making it public:) but it is very nice to hear, given my hurdles with trying to actually get something up and running that I wouldn’t be an embarassment! I still have had zero time to try to make the site more user-friendly, but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy that you like it so much!

  6. Loving the adventures! I second the comment about enjoying your escpades while eating lunch at my desk and dreaming and world outside!

Do you have any updates on where you will be during the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Years holiday? Tom and I are thinking about our next adventure and might be pursuaded to meet you somewhere if you are ready for some travel companions!

    1. Thanks,Christina! We would love to see you over the holidays but not sure exactly where we will be…definately somewhere south! We will think about it for a little bit and give you a range of places…we are flexible but will def not plan to be in Europe at that time, probably Africa or SE Asia…anywhere you particularly want to go?

  7. I am thrilled you are having an adventure of a lifetime. I am amazed and highly entertained by the stories you tell. Please continue to write often. I sit and eat my lunch at my desk and read your blog and imagine the lovely scenary as I sit and stare out to the streets of Hartford. Looking forward to reading more adventures & misadventures! I want to hear more about the food!!! Love you both – be safe and always keep smiling 🙂

    1. What a lovely thing to say…I will do my best to keep up with it, and say more about the food….you know how I love to eat! Hope all is well in the big H!

  8. Wow. Love your sense of adventure. I’m afraid I am too spoiled to ensure some of the challenges.

  9. LOVING your blog. What a great time you’re having and running into wonderful people. Had to laugh at your camel ride … I’ve never heard a good thing about those :>)
    Love,
    Cindy

  10. Good Morning and Happy the day after memorial day here. I’m happy to see you are having sunshine wherever you are. It has been cool and rainy here for the past few days. No summer weather yet. I appreciate the chance to look at all the pictures. They are great. Hope all is well and I look forward to seeing you soon. Take care and God Bless. Love and prayers, Aunt Mo

  11. When you get to Ukraine try to dig up an area where supposedly my grandparents hid some family items when they left.

We are going to miss you but am excited for your adventure.

    Love you both,
    Chris
